OPPORTUNITY IN NAKURU COUNTY – BOARD OF DIRECTORS
NARUWASCO is a wholly owned water service provider (WSP) company of the County Government of Nakuru. It is responsible for provision of water and sanitation services within the larger parts of Nakuru County except Nakuru Urban and Naivasha SubCounty. Accordingly, the County Government of Nakuru and Nakuru Rural Water and Sanitation Company Ltd (NARUWASCO) invites interested persons to serve as members of the Board of NARUWASCO to represent the following stakeholder groups:
- One (1) member to represent Learning Institution (Schools, Colleges, or Universities) nominated by respective institution active within NARUWASCO service area.
- One (1) member to represent Special Interest Groups nominated by registered special interest group (Women Organizations, Persons Living with Disability (PWD)) active within NARUWASCO service area.
Desired Areas of Expertise:
- Finance, Audit and Risk Management,
- Water Engineering and Management,
- Legal profession and management,
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible, the applicant should:
- Have a minimum of bachelor’s degree from a recognised university,
- Comply with chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity,
- Meets the Fit and Proper Test Criteria from Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB),
- Demonstrate experience and acumen in a business or any profession for at least 7 years,
- Have attended a corporate governance training in a recognised institution,
- Be resident in the area served by the water company,

To achieve our mission, we are seeking to fill the vacant position of Technical Services manager with customer service oriented, qualified, and experienced individual who seeks to be part of a results-oriented team.
TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will co-ordinate, control, and manage the Company’s technical operations and maintain its infrastructure to provide Water and sanitation Services to the required standards and in compliance with company policies and sector regulations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
With a strong focus on customer satisfaction, cost efficiency, and operational excellence, as well as ensuring compliance with the sector regulations in provisions of water and sanitation services, you will be expected to:
- Manage all engineering works, and electrical/mechanical equipment including supervising the design, plan, and construction of new water and wastewater projects,
- Oversee all activities of the technical department to ensure water quality meets set standards operations are free of malfunctions and wastewater meets disposal levels before discharge to the environment,
- Monitor and evaluate technical operations and recommend areas for improvement continuously to ensure efficient service delivery,
- Develop and implement departmental policies, plans, strategies, and action plans that are aligned with the overall Company mission and objectives.
- Manage the maintenance and repairs, installation and replacement of plant, machinery, and other equipment, maximizing return on capital investment,
- Prepare comprehensive Departmental reports, including Engineering Budgets, technical audit reports to facilitate decision-making,
- Manage departmental staff performance, development, training, and motivation for effective performance and productivity,
- Resource mobilizations for water and wastewater management projects,
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field,
- A Master’s degree in the engineering field shall be an added advantage,
- Registered Engineer with EBK,
- Senior management course of not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution.
- Fulfilling the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.
- 10 years of engineering work experience, preferably in the Water and Sanitation sector or related field with at least 5 years at Senior Management Level,
- Demonstrated Project Management & Planning experience and managing external consultants, partners, and donors,
- Proven people management experience: managing a large workforce will be a definite advantage,
TERMS OF SERVICE:
This position is on a 5-year renewable Contract based on satisfactory performance.
